Legislature Update

The Wisconsin Health Freedom Coalition has been fighting a nasty bill that was introduced to the Wisconsin legislature by the American Dietary Association.  This bill would forbid me (and many others) from practicing nutrition counseling despite excellent qualifications.  It would limit your freedom to see whom you wish concerning your health care.
There is a hearing scheduled and I am personally asking you to come to this hearing.  The more people we have there, the better the chance that we will kill the bill.  It will be held in Madison, WI on Wednesday, December 9, 2010, 10:00 a.m.  We are arranging buses to get everyone there (please wear a white shirt or blouse).  The buses will leave from Eau Claire, and if there are enough people to fill a bus, from other places in the state.  It would be better to ride the buses that we have scheduled than to drive (although you may certainly do that), as parking is extremely limited at the Capitol.
I have asked my secretaries to call each of my Wisconsin clients to ask them if they will come to the hearing and stand for Health Freedom by defeating SB115/AB440 (the bill that will prohibit nutritionists, naturopaths, homeopaths, and many more from giving nutritional counsel).  If you cannot attend, please contact your senator and representative and tell them that you are opposed to SB115/AB440 and its amendments.  Tell them you are in favor of Health Freedom legislation.

I have pasted below the information that will help you write or call your senator or representative.  I would ask that you would call my office at 715-877-3510 to arrange to ride the bus down to Madison to attend the hearing.  Please help us defeat this bill.
Sincerely,
Karen Hurd

Say “bye bye” to nutrient dense dietary advice and “hello” to the ADA (American Dietetic Association) processed foods protocols. This bill creates a nutrition and dietary monopoly for Registered Dietitians. They already have a monopoly in hospitals, schools and nursing homes.

  • Wear a white shirt to the hearing. We want to flood the hearing room with white shirts. You will be provided with an identifying badge.
  • Testify with a 2 to 3 minute statement on how you or your bushiness will be affected or how alternative (non ADA) advice from health foods stores and natural practitioners helped improve your lifestyle. If you don’t want to speak it’s OK.

  • Look into legislators eyes and speak from your heart. Try not to read from notes.
  • Bring your child that has benefited for alternative dietary methods.

  • Read statements into the record of those who cannot attend.
  • Sign in when you enter the hearing room to register your opposition to SB115.

  • If 3000 people show up in opposition the hearing will be cancelled and the bill will die.
